Katharine Hope McPhee (born May 6 1976) is an American musician, singer and actress. She was in May 2006 as the runner-up in the fifth season of American Idol. The album she released was her debut via RCA Records in January 2007. The album was ranked as second on the Billboard 200 with 381,000 sales. After she left Scorpion and appeared in Waitress, on Broadway in 2018, she starred as Jenna Hunterson. She reprised the part for a second time on Broadway between 2019 and 2020. From her debut album "Self-titled", she's released four albums. Taylor Hicks was the fifth American Idol winner on May 24, 2006 Katharine McNee took home the American Idol crown in the month of May. The 29 year old had previously beaten Chris Daughtry & Kellie Peckler.

Katherine Marie Heigl has been an American actor since the year 2005. She was Dr. Izzie Stevens on the ABC TV medical show Grey's Anatomy from 2005 to 2010. Her role brought her recognition and accolades, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting actress in an drama Series in 2007. Even though they might not be the best of friends, Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl are still friends following her departure in 2010 from Grey's Anatomy. They have collaborated on more than 100 TV episodes. There is a good chance that they've formed a close bond over the years as friends, colleagues and mothers.
